Philosophy

J.R. Larkin & Co. helps you explore new possibilities for your life, family, and business—whether moving across borders, preparing for yacht ownership, or considering what you want to carry forward. We bring together personal guidance and carefully curated partners as you navigate those decisions and make more room for the people and passions that matter.

The work is grounded in trusted counsel and disciplined thinking — the kind that helps clients see clearly before they act, rather than after. It begins with understanding what you have built, what decisions are actually in front of you, and what a genuinely aligned next chapter would require.

Each engagement is tailored to you. It begins with a conversation.

Who We Work With

The firm works with people who have built their own success—and are deciding what they want it to make possible for themselves, their families, and the next generation.

Established Families

Families considering where they want to live, how they spend their time, and what they want to experience together—whether through an international relocation, more time abroad, or a different way of life.

Entrepreneurs

Business owners considering a new venture, an exit, or life after a sale. They want to understand what their success makes possible and plan their next steps around personal priorities, family commitments, and business interests.

Executives & Senior Operators

Senior leaders considering a new role, a board seat, a venture, or a deliberate step back. After years of responsibility, they are asking what comes next—and how their experience, resources, and ambitions can shape a life that feels their own.

Military Leaders & Veteran Professionals

Officers and senior enlisted whose experience spans military service and civilian careers. They may be considering a new venture, a change in leadership responsibilities, or more freedom in where and how they live—building their next chapter on their own terms.

Success looks different for everyone. The work begins by understanding what it means for you.

Practice Areas

Three areas where the firm does its most concentrated work—each rooted in the same disciplined, private advisory approach.

A life worth imagining, with clear professional guidance behind it.

International Transitions.

A different place to live. A new market for your business. We explore the possibilities with you and plan the connected decisions around family, geography, ownership, and operations.

The hardest part of this kind of transition is rarely the decision itself. It is figuring out who you want to be on the other side of it.

For people who have spent years building — a business, a career, a family, a life — the next chapter raises questions that go beyond strategy. Not just what to do or where to live, but what kind of life actually fits. What success looks like when you get to define it for yourself.

That is the conversation this firm is built for.

How the Work Happens

Every engagement begins with a private conversation about the decision in front of you, what matters most, and whether the firm is suited to help. From there, we agree on the scope of work and fees before the engagement begins.

Jonathan R. Larkin keeps the whole picture in view, bringing together your priorities, the people involved, and the practical steps needed to move forward. The firm’s Senior Advisors and carefully curated partners contribute their expertise, with clear responsibilities for each part of the engagement.

Depending on the agreed scope, the work includes clarifying priorities, evaluating options, developing a practical plan, or coordinating the people involved in its execution. The process and any written deliverables are agreed around the needs of the engagement.

Some clients come with a single decision. Others seek an ongoing advisory relationship as their circumstances and priorities evolve.

The People Behind the Firm

The firm brings together experience in leadership, risk, public service, and complex decisions. Jonathan leads each client relationship, drawing on Senior Advisors where their perspective adds depth.
